EDU Applauds Outstanding Achievements of Bangla Academy Award 2021 Laureates

The Bangla Academy Award is one of the most prestigious medals in the literary field. 

This year, a total of 11 people have been selected for the award, including three elite literary figures from Chittagong: Biswajit in fiction, Bimal Guha and Asad Mannan in poetry. 

The founders of East Delta University, Chairman Abdullah Al Noman, former Minister, Vice Chairman Sayeed Al Noman, and Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Sekandar Khan, congratulated the three Chittagong nominees, as well as all the other award recipients.

In a congratulatory message, they highlighted the significant role that Chittagong has played in the development of Bengali language and literature, with a history dating back to the time of Alaol. They expressed their hope that the contributions of the award winners will have a timeless impact on Bengali literature.

The other recipients of the Bangla Academy Award 2021 include Jharna Rahman for fiction, Hossainuddin Hossain for article/research, Aminur Rahman and Rafiq-um-Munir Chowdhury for translation, Sadhana Ahmed for drama, Rafiqur Rasheed for children’s literature, Panna Kaiser for liberation war-based studies, Harun-or-Rashid for Bangabandhu issues research, Shubhagat Chowdhury for science/environment, and Sufia Khatun, Haider Akbar Khan Rano, and Aminur Rahman Sultan for autobiography/memoir/travelog, and folklore, respectively.

The prestigious ceremony was a representation of the highest honor that can be bestowed upon writers, poets, translators, and other literary figures who have made outstanding contributions to the field of Bengali literature. 

The award is considered a symbol of excellence, creativity, and cultural pride, and winning it is a significant achievement that brings immense prestige to the recipient. 

The award also serves as a catalyst for promoting and encouraging Bengali literature, inspiring future generations of writers, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh.
