The Department of Economics at East Delta University celebrated its 6th anniversary with a day-long event called Econombrium 1.0. The campus was decorated with colorful decorations, and students of the department organized a festive walk. The department is unique in Chittagong because it offers a modern and practical BSc degree in Economics.
The celebration included various events such as an opening ceremony, panel discussions with experts, a quiz competition on economics, poster presentations, a food economy stall, and cultural programs. The Vice-Chancellor of EDU, Professor Muhammad Sekandar Khan, emphasized the importance of practical education in Economics, which includes mathematics and business education.
The founder vice-chairman of the university, Sayeed Al Noman, congratulated the teachers, students, and alumni of the department on their achievements over the past six years. The department has made Economics a practical and career-oriented subject, making it as desirable to students as BBA & Engineering.
During the panel discussion, Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Rakibul Kabir and Associate Professor Dr. Naeem Uddin discussed the complexities of the economy and the importance of practical education. At the closing ceremony, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions, including Fahreen Noor Tanha, Tahfatul Jannat, Syed Sadat Qaiser, Lawrence Gomez, Tahrim Ibnat, and Jayraj Talukder.
Overall, the half-century celebration of the Department of Economics at EDU highlighted the importance of practical education in economics and its role in preparing students for the complex and analytical nature of the modern economy.
