East Delta University hosts Econobrium 3.0

                A Transformative Discourse on Shaping Economic Futures

On December 15, 2024, East Delta University held the highly anticipated Econobrium 3.0, an annual departmental event organised by the Department of Economics. This year’s event was dedicated to exploring economic reforms and actionable policies under the theme Shaping Economic Futures: Connecting Economic Reforms with Actionable Policy. The day-long event brought together renowned economists, industry leaders, faculty, and students for an engaging series of activities designed to foster collaboration and insight into pressing economic challenges.

The event commenced with an inauguration and thematic discussion in the university’s Central Library. The opening address was made by event Co-Convenor, Ms. Tasmeem Chowdhury Bonhi, Assistant Professor and Ms. Ananya Nandy, Chair, Department of Economics and Convenor, Econobirum 3.0, addressed the event. Joining the discussion as a Special Guest was Professor M. Sekandar Khan, prominent social activist and advisor to the university’s Board of Trustees, along with Guest Speaker Omaina Rahman, Managing Director of Unicom Intellect Ltd., who shared valuable perspectives on the intersection of business innovation and policy-making. Chairing the session was the esteemed Professor Dr. Mohammed Nazim Uddin, Vice Chancellor of East Delta University, whose words underscored the critical role of academia in addressing economic reform. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Muinul Islam, an award-winning economist and Ekushey Padak recipient, who captivated the audience with his insights into sustainable economic policies for developing nations. The inauguration session was moderated by Ms. Nishat Shaoli Islam, Lecturer, Department of Economics and Member Secretary, Econobrium 3.0, East Delta University.

Following the morning’s discourse, the E-Conquer prize-giving ceremony took center stage, recognizing exceptional student achievements and innovative ideas within the field of economics. Organized by the EDU Econ Acumen Society, this segment highlighted the talent and creativity flourishing through a 3 stage competition on Economic reform. Attendees then had the opportunity to explore interactive stalls at the Business Economics Exhibition, which showcased their entrepreneurial skills emphasizing on innovation and business acumen.

The afternoon transitioned into a vibrant Econshow at the amphitheater. This closing segment featured a cultural gala, alumni meet-up, and a celebratory photo session that brought together participants, faculty, and alumni in a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose. Honorable Associate Dean, Professor Dr. Rashed Al Karim handed over the token of appreciation and thanked the organising committee members and the students volunteers for their efforts.The Econshow not only reflected the academic rigor of the event but also celebrated the vibrant community at East Delta University.
